LISTEN MORE

We have two ears and just one tongue,

A lesson taught since time was young.

To hear the world and not just say,

For words once spoken won’t fade away.

The sound of wind, the rustling trees,

The laughter soft upon the breeze.

The stories held in eyes so bright,

Are missed if we just talk all night.

Too often mouths just rush to speak,

Yet wise are those who choose to seek.

A thoughtful pause, a patient ear,

Brings truth and kindness ever near.

For when we listen, hearts are heard,

Not just the noise of empty words.

We learn, we grow, we start to see,

That silence holds life’s greatest key.

Some speak to win, not understand,

Yet wisdom walks with listening hands.

To truly know, to deeply care,

We first must learn to simply hear.

A moment held before we reply,

Can change a fate, a love, a sigh.

For words should heal, not tear apart,

And kindness starts with open hearts.

So think the most, then speak with care,

Let wisdom shine in words so rare.

For those who hear more than they say,

Will find the light to lead the way.

The greatest minds don’t shout or boast,

They listen first, they learn the most.

A gentle heart, an open mind,

Will leave the loudest noise behind.
